| Missouri State Water Patrol Officer Curt Glover has been selected as the September, 2007 Employee of the Month for the Department of Public Safety. Officer Lance was selected for this award for the bravery he demonstrated during an incident on May 28, 2007 when he received a call in reference to a seven year old child in the water at Mark Twain Lake. It was determined that the child had been under water for approximately 30 minutes. Officer Glover responded immediately and without regard to his own safety. Without knowing the water depth, Officer Glover jumped into the lake after noticing bubbles on the surface. Officer Glover was able to locate the child in approximately five feet of water and bring the child to the bank where emergency personnel were standing by. Officer Glover knew that time was a major factor in the recovery efforts; unfortunately, time was not on his side. While rescue personnel were able to get a heart beat, the child died on the way to the hospital. Officer Glover's efforts were that of bravery and courageousness and should not go unnoticed. |
