| Missouri State Water Patrol Officer Scott Lance has been selected as the August, 2007 Employee of the Month for the Department of Public Safety. Officer Lance was selected for this award for his life saving efforts during an incident that occurred in January, 2007. Officer Lance witnessed a truck roll over onto its top and become partially submerged in the Lake of the Ozarks, making the occupant unable to open the front door. Officer Lance was able to open the rear door of the extended cab truck which then allowed Officer Lance and the occupant to open the truck's front door and exit the vehicle. The water and air temperatures were extremely cold at the time of the incident. Without Officer Lance's service, the occupant of the vehicle could have suffered hypothermia or death. |
