Disaster Planning & Training

The most powerful step you, your family, and your organization can take is preparing for a disaster through planning and training. Forming a plan and training, all individuals involved, to use the plan helps to keep order and ensure that tasks are not duplicated or left undone. Planning and training helps organizations develop practical skills. We recommend that you contact local emergency assistance organizations such as the Red Cross. Many of these organizations will offer planning tools and training programs.

Planning

In planning for a disaster gather the entire organization for an active discussion. Develop a plan; you may use the emergency plan templates on the Emergency Plan page. Once a plan is developed your organization should run a drill to ensure that everyone understands their responsibilities. Use the links below to assist your organization in emergency planning.
