Director James Reminds Public
Safety Community of Upcoming Medal of Valor Deadline
JEFFERSON CITY Thursday February 7, 2008—Director of Public Safety Mark James reminded the public safety community about nominations for public safety officers who demonstrated extraordinary acts of bravery and heroism above and beyond the call of duty in 2007. Chairman of the Missouri Medal of Valor Review Board Roger D. Stottlemyre, former Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and current Deputy Director of the Missouri Gaming Commission encourages the public safety community to take an active role in nominating those who continually risk their lives to save others. A public safety officer is a person living or deceased, who is serving a public agency as a firefighter, law enforcement officer, including corrections, court or civil defense officers or emergency personnel. The Department of Public Safety will be receiving applications and forwarding on to the Missouri Medal of Valor Review Board.
