Department of Public Safety Raises Funds for Special Olympics

JEFFERSON CITY, May 2, 2007-The Missouri Department of Public Safety hosted their 11th Annual Trivia Night which was open to the public to raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Missouri Special Olympics chapter. The annual event was held in the Jefferson City Eagles Lodge on March 30.

“We are very proud of our partnership with the Special Olympics program,” said Mark James, Director of Public Safety. “Our law enforcement officers enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community.”

The event raised a total of $4,600 for the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). In Missouri, 200 agencies and 2,500 officers work year round to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics by participating in many LETR fundraisers such as the Department of Public Safety trivia night.

Teams of eight persons or less entered for a fee of $100 or $12.50 per individual. The teams tested their brain power as well as enjoyed sodas, snacks and door prizes. The festivities also included a silent auction and raffle.
