Blunt Announces Progress Made in Flood Damage
Assessment
JEFFERSON CITY, May 21, 2007-Gov. Matt Blunt today announces
completed flood assessments by the Individual Assistance Joint Preliminary
Damage Assessment teams.
The assessment identifies 569 homes and 72 businesses
in 18 counties impacted by the recent Missouri flooding. The areas
with completed evaluation include Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll,
Chariton, Clay, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Holt, Jackson, Lafayette,
Livingston, Morgan, Nodaway, Osage, Platte, and Worth counties.
“Teams are working with local officials to evaluate
damage to homes and businesses caused by the flooding,” Blunt
said. “Those evaluations will be analyzed and used in requests
for proper recovery assistance.”
The agricultural community is encouraged to report flooded
acreage and crop losses to their County Farm Services Agents. This
information will be coordinated with that obtained by the Missouri
Department of Agriculture as well as the United States Department
of Agriculture.
On Tuesday, the Joint Damage Assessment Teams will begin
working with flood-impacted counties to gather information on damages
to public infrastructure.
