Blunt Announces First Responder Departments Will Receive State-of-Art Equipment

FY 2006 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) Grant Allocations

JEFFERSON CITY, March 30, 2007—Gov. Matt Blunt today announced 45 Missouri Sheriff, Police and Fire Departments will receive new equipment through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s fiscal year 2006 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDA).

“I am pleased to announce this new equipment from the federal government that will enhance local communities’ capabilities and arm them with the necessary tools to meet their homeland security mission,” Blunt said.

This new equipment is valued at more than one million dollars. In addition to the specialized equipment, the 45 departments will receive training on the new equipment operation, maintenance and deployment procedures. The equipment ranges from personal protective equipment, thermal imaging equipment to night vision binoculars, and transportation equipment.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded $34.6 million in equipment and training to first responders across the nation.
