JEFFERSON CITY, October 10, 2006-Department of Public
Safety Director Mark James announced today Missouri will receive over
$3.2 million dollars from the Department of Homeland Security to enhance
first responders’ ability to respond to emergencies.

of Homeland Security’s commitment to ensuring Missouri communities
have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards,”

(AFG) assists local fire departments in purchasing firefighting equipment,
funding firefighter health and safety programs, enhancing emergency
medical services programs, and conducting fire education and prevention
programs.
Eligible applicants for the program are limited to fire
