James Praises Investigators
on Anderson Fire, Thanks ATF
JEFFERSON CITY, November 29, 2006-Department of Public
Safety Director Mark James today praised the tireless efforts of all
who participated in the Anderson investigation.
“I am proud of our public safety investigators
who time and time again come together during disastrous events to
lend support and combine resources in a unified command dedicated
to see the investigation end with a positive outcome,” James
said.
This cooperative effort brought together The Division
of Fire Safety, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Anderson Police
Department, and the McDonald County Sherriff’s Office who all
played an intricate role in the investigation process. The Missouri
Information Analysis Center (MIAC) provided immense contributions
with analytical support to the investigative team.
James also thanked the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and
Firearms (ATF) who brought in considerable resources to the scene
including an engineer from their Washington D.C. lab to assist in
narrowing down the possible causes of the fire.
“ATF’s expertise was critical in analyzing
a scene almost completely destroyed by fire,” James said. “We
could not have resolved this case this quickly without them.”
Non-profit and local fire and law enforcement agencies
showed great hospitality and support during the days of the investigation,
particularly the Red Cross who responded on scene to provide food
and drinks for public safety officials working.
