Capitol Police Flies Special Flag Over
Capitol Grounds Honoring Flag Day
JEFFERSON CITY, June 14, 2006-As a tribute to our country
on Flag Day, the Missouri Capitol Police today flew the Betsy Ross
flag on Capitol grounds.
Seamstress Besty Ross sewed the first official U.S flag in 1777, which
contained thirteen stars in a circle. Ross is one of the only women
during the Revolutionary time period who stood out for her triumph
over adversity. She was a young widow, single mother managing a household
and property while her loved ones were killed in war.
The Christopher Casey Chapter, Missouri Society, Sons of the American
Revolution donated the flag to the Capitol Police to honor all Americans
who defend their country from enemies foreign and domestic.

Capitol Police putting up the flag is attached.
