Fennewald to Speak on Regionalization
at Four Corners Conference in Branson
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas to Share Katrina Lessons Learned
BRANSON, Dec. 7, 2005-Paul Fennewald, Missouri Homeland
Security Coordinator, will join emergency managers from four states
and outline a Homeland Security initiative at the Four Corners Conference
in Branson on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 9:45 a.m.
Public Safety and Missouri Homeland Security have already
begun a push for regionalization because it is the most beneficial,
effective method of targeting federal homeland security grant funding
for the state. Regionalization concentrates decreasing funding levels
toward addressing the most critical threats and risks within regions.
Local threats are decided by the members of the region based upon
the federal threat/risk assessment guidelines.
Over 65 emergency managers are scheduled to attend
the conference, with more than half from Missouri. Historically, severe
weather response, local resources, and common disaster concerns prompted
the emergency managers in the border counties in Missouri, Arkansas,
Kansas and Oklahoma to form the Four Corners Conference.
