Three Men Arrested in Connection With MoDOT Robbery

JEFFERSON CITY, August 3, 2005— Three men were arrested last week stemming from a Missouri Capitol Police investigation involving stolen state property.

In an attempt to curtail break-ins at the Jefferson City office of Central District MoDOT Storage Facility, Capitol Police officers installed and monitored a remote alarm system. A video recording device remotely placed at the facility assisted officers on two occasions. Video surveillance tapes show two individuals on separate occasions breaking into a storage facility housing valuable raw materials.

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) inventory records indicate a loss of approximately $6,500 in supplies, and a portable gas generator. Capitol Police officers were able to recover the generator at a business in Columbia Missouri. One suspect was apprehended in Lebanon Missouri following a statewide broadcast from Capitol Police Dispatch. Jefferson City Police Department was able to apprehend another suspect at a Jefferson City business and Capitol Police officers were able to arrest a third suspect.

Albert Christmann of Jefferson City, Charles French of Hallsville and Mike Johnson of Jefferson City have been charged in relation to the incident by the Office of the Cole County Prosecutor and are awaiting trial.
