Bus Safety Task Force Seeks Input of School Bus Drivers
Survey available on redesigned Department of Public Safety Website JEFFERSON CITY, July 7, 2005—Gov. Matt Blunt today called for school bus driver input to widen the perspective of the Bus Safety Task Force he created earlier this year. All school bus drivers in the state are asked to participate in the online survey available at www.dps.mo.gov.
Questions on the survey range from safety equipment on buses to driver training, including whether or not drivers think children should wear some kind of seat belt. The survey will be available for the entire month of July. Blunt said driver participation in the survey is necessary for the task force to get the opinion of those who transport Missouri’s schoolchildren on a daily basis. "I encourage
all school bus drivers to weigh in on this critical discussion to ensure the
end result is the protection of our children," Blunt said. "Our
objective is the safest possible journey to and from school." Public Safety director Mark James heads the bus safety task force and made the announcement at today’s fourth group meeting.
