Juvenile Accountablity Enforcing the Underage

Since
1974, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)
has been authorized to administer the Formula Grants program to support
State and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile
justice system improvements. The program is authorized under Title
II, Part B, Section 222, of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
(JJDP) Act of 1974, as amended (Public Law 93-415, 42 U.S.C. 5601 et seq.)
Availability of Funds Based upon guidance provided by OJJDP and the size of Missouri's Title II awards in 2005 and 2006, the Department anticipates receiving an award of approximately $1.0 million dollars for the grant period of October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. Applicants will note that as of May 11, 2007 this anticipated award amount has not yet been received. Further, by issuing this Request for Proposal, the Department makes no guarantee to applicants that Title II funding in the above amount will be available for contracts beginning October 1, 2007. The 2007 Title II Award process was completed on September 30, 2007. No funding is currently available. However subject to Congressional appropraitions, funding will again be availble in the Spring of 2008. Please check back for updates. Thank you. No in-kind or hard cash match is required to receive Title II funds. Elilibility Requirements - The Missouri Department of Public Safety establishes eligibility criteria that must be met by all organizations that receive Title II funds. Each applicant organization shall meet the following requirements: Public or Nonprofit Agency - To be eligible to receive Title II funds, applicants must be an operating public or nonprofit agency, or a combination of such organizations. Juvenile and family courts, law enforcement agencies, local units of government, churches, schools, and public youth service agencies or organizations with appropriate experience, expertise, and service capacity are all eligible applicants for funding. Eligible Applicants:
2007 Title II Purpose Areas: Court Services: Programs designed to encourage courts to develop and implement a continuum of pre- and post-adjudication restraints that bridge the gap between traditional probation and confinement in a correctional setting. Services include expanded use of probation, mediation, restitution, community service, treatment, home detention, intensive supervision, electronic monitoring, translation services and similar programs, and secure community-based treatment facilities linked to other support services. Diversion: Programs to divert juveniles from entering the juvenile justice system. Aftercare/Re-entry: Programs to prepare targeted juvenile offenders to successfully return to their communities after serving a period of secure confinement in a training school, juvenile correctional facility, or other secure institution. Aftercare programs focus on preparing juvenile offenders for release and providing a continuum of supervision and services after release Disproportionate Minority Contact: Programs, research, or other initiatives designed primarily to address the disproportionate number of juvenile members of minority groups who come into contact with the juvenile justice system, pursuant to Section 223(a)(22) of the JJDP Act of 2002.
